The Sorrows of Eve

help for moms with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders

At least one in five mothers experience a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD). PMADs include the more commonly known postpartum depression, but they can occur in the whole perinatal period—pregnancy through the first year postpartum—and encompass anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychosis.

This website serves to educate Christian churches, families, counselors, and care providers on PMADs and equip them with tools to apply theology and the gospel to each woman’s specific circumstances as they walk alongside mothers in community. Although mothers share in the sorrows of Eve brought on by the curse in Genesis 3:16, redemption, sanctification, and God’s glory—not PMADs—are the end of the story for Christian women.
